Amla is a quaint little village that seems to be stuck in a time warp. Life in the village of Amla carries on as it must have for the past few centuries with the odd exception of an electrical flour mill. The single mud track will lead you past single storey homes and a shop or two.

And as is true of every Indian village, there is one family that dominates the social and economic scene. In the case of Amla, this is the family of Raghavendra Singh, whose ancestors have been rulers of this area for many generations.
