Khonoma is a fascinating village with wooden houses, carved gateway and surrounding stone wall. The village is built around a hill which forms a natural fortress and several key battles in Naga history have taken place here, so there are many memorials.

Many aspects of traditional Naga culture remain here, for example many of the Morongs (dormitories) are still in use; hunters still live in traditional houses, decorated with their hunting trophies; women can be seen weaving; there are megaliths scattered all around the village and the surrounding fields. There are great views over the rice paddies below the village, and towards the hills beyond.
