This mild and peace-loving religion has created some exquisite temple complexes. Made of pure white marble, the carvings are so rich, one can spend hours gazing at a single frieze. All of them bring a sense of calm and serenity.
Almost all of the Jain temples which remain today were saved from destructive Mughal armies due to their locations, deep in the forest at Ranakpur and on inaccessible hilltops at Palitana, Delwara and Mount Abu.
