Colourful Tibetan prayer flags now occupy a section of the lake as monks - both Sikh and Buddhist medidate on the banks of the waters. The elegant low structures of Buddhist monasteries rise from the midst of newer constructions. A new temple is being built high up on the hill, with a large statue of Padmasambhava looking down upon the lake and the town. Tibetan children play on the narrow streets and small restaurants offer hardy Tibetan fare.
