Gopalpur-on-Sea is a quaint fishing village which is slowly becoming a modern coastal resort. Sand dunes, groves of coconut palm and casuarinas separate the small town from the beach on the Bay of Bengal. The backwaters, creeks and lagoons give variety to the scenery. It is very relaxed and has a quiet atmosphere and good local food.
