Ganges boat trip
The principal attraction of Varanasi is the long string of bathing ghats, which line the west bank of the Ganges. Ghats are the steps which lead down to the river from which pilgrims make their sin-cleansing dip in the holy river and on which bodies are cremated. A boat ride on the Ganges at dawn, when it is full of pilgrims, is an amazing experience. After the boat ride, you can visit the Old City of Varanasi situated along the west riverbank and comprising of a network of narrow alleys. The only way to see this place is by walking through the congested lanes full of pilgrims, holy cows, cycles and rickshaws. Varanasi is famous for its traditional of silk weaving that dates back to several centuries ago. You will see many shops offering beautiful brocades in silk and gold or silver threads.
