Day 1, AHMEDABAD

Arrive at Ahmedabad where you are met and transferred to your hotel.

Ahmedabad is the cultural capital of Gujarat and a major textile and crafts center of India. The city is also packed with a diversity of architectural styles, with over fifty mosques and tombs, as well as Hindu and Jain temples and grand step-wells which often display beautiful carvings. The old part of town has a maze of narrow winding alleys with carved wooden house fronts and thriving bazaars.

A good option for dinner is Agashiye at the House of Mangaldas Girdhardas. Located in the heart of the city, the ever popular Agashiye rooftop restaurant serves delicious traditional Gujarati food that Ahmedabad’s bon ton swears by.

Day 2, AHMEDABAD

The city’s major heritage sites lie in Old Ahmedabad, east of the Sabarmati River, a maze of crowded bazaars, exquisitely carved facades, temples, mosques and subterranean stepwells. You will explore the atmospheric bylanes on a heritage walk.

Across the river is Gandhi’s Sabermati Ashram. It was from here that Gandhi orchestrated the final struggle for India’s freedom. About 4 km south of the city is the Vishala Museum, displaying traditional utensils and everyday objects. It also has an excellent outdoor restaurant for Gujarati cuisine, set in an attractive rural ambience.

Day 3, AHMEDABAD

Today your tour ends after breakfast. There are several options for continuing your travels in Gujarat. You can drive to Dasada to visit (The Little Rann of Kutch), to Bhuj to visit (Textile Villages around Buj), or to Gondal, as a stop-over to (Sasangir & Palitana) to see lions and hilltop temples. If you have sufficient time you can combine all these three modules to see the best of Gujarat in one trip!
