Camel Safari
The deserts of Rajasthan are best explored on camel back. A saddle is mounted across the camel’s hump, providing comfortable seating, legs astride, for one passenger and a camel-driver.
The camel may look aloof, but is the lifeline for the people of the desert whose communication needs depend on this vital beast for their very survival. Most journeys into the hinterland are still made on camel-back, or in camel carts, and the camel is also used for ploughing the arid fields of the desert.

Itinerary
Day 1, Start Camel Safari
You will be collected from the hotel to drive by jeep to the starting point of the camel safari. You ride on the camel for approximately 2-3 hours in the afternoon, passing tiny villages inhabited by nomadic and pastoral tribes, largely unaffected by modern civilisation. Our staff members look after you well; they set up camp and prepare all meals during the safari. You need a small backpack to keep some clothing and personal belongings. The night is spent camping out under the stars. Tents, mattresses, blankets and sheets will be provided.
Day 2, Return to Jaisalmer
It takes approximately 2 hours to ride the camels back to Jaisalmer, the remarkable sandstone city that rises magically from the sand dunes of the Rajasthan desert.
Your trip ends after your return to Jaisalmer. You can choose to stay one more night in Jaisalmer and then continue with the nearby Desert Cities of Rajasthan module that takes you via Osian, Bikaner and Mandawa to Jaipur.
Alternatively, at the end of the day, you could take the night train to Jaipur or all the way back to Delhi.
