The Rajasthan countryside is dotted with captivating fort and palace hotels, which make wonderful escapes away from hectic city life.

Midway Pushkar and Udaipur is the small town of Deogarh which has an interesting bazaar. The road winds its way up to the top of the hill till you reach the beautifully renovated Deogarh Mahal Palace where you are a guest of the royal family.

Itinerary

Day 1, Jaipur to Pushkar

Drive to Pushkar (3 hrs), a delightful little desert oasis. The town clings to the side of the beautiful Pushkar Lake, considered by Hindus to be extremely holy. Hundreds of small temples are built on the periphery of the lake with wide stone steps or `ghats’ leading down to the lake. A magical quality of light hovers over the lake, bouncing off the surrounding white-washed temples and bathing ghats.

Stay at Pushkar Palace

Day 2, Pushkar to Deogarh

Drive to Deogarh (3 hrs), a pleasant, little frequented town midway Pushkar and Udaipur. After you turn off the national highway, the road crosses an interesting bazaar with shops selling silver jewellery, clothes, fabrics, food stuff and just about everything one needs in a Rajasthani household. The road then winds its way up to the top of the hill till you reach the beautifully renovated Deogarh Mahal Palace.

Stay at Deogarh Mahal

Day 3, Deogarh to Udaipur

Drive to Udaipur (3 hrs). Set around the vast Pichola Lake and dominated by dramatic palaces, Udaipur is surely Rajasthan’s most romantic city. High whitewashed houses and narrow, winding alleys lend it an almost medieval charm. To wander through the interesting bazaars is one the greatest delights of this city.

Stay at Jagat Niwas Palace for two nights

Day 4, Udaipur

Enjoy a guided tour of Udaipur. The main part of the City Palace is now preserved as a museum with a large and varied collection of mosaics, glass and porcelain figures, miniatures and paintings. Nearby is the Jagdish temple, a centre of constant activity. Udaipur is famous for its miniature paintings and during a walk through the bazaar, you will see many artists’ studios and shops.

Day 5, Onwards from Udaipur

Today your tour ends after breakfast. You can continue to Narlai, Chandelao & Jodhpur for our Temples, Forts & Villages tour, or to Dungarpur as a stop-over to Ahmedabad.
