Temples, Forts & Villages
Rajasthan’s deserts are amazingly populated with a myriad of tiny villages where life has remained unchanged for centuries. There are some small forts in rural areas that have recently opened their doors to guests.
These places offer a great chance to the see village life, interact with the local community, and to learn about the art, culture and heritage of Rajasthan.



















Itinerary
Day 1, Udaipur to Narlai
Drive via the beautiful Jain temples at Ranakpur to Narlai (3 hrs), a small village mid-way Jodhpur and Udaipur, overlooking a gigantic 350-foot single rock of granite, dotted with caves and temples. Rawla Narlai is a small haveli which lies cozily within fortress-like walls and the white-washed terraces offer views of the hill with its dramatic huge granite boulder.

Day 2, Narlai to Chandelao
Drive to the small village of Chandelao (4 hrs). Here you will find no other tourists and the place therefore offers a great chance to the see village life, interact with the local community, and to learn about the art, culture and heritage of Rajasthan.
The only place to stay is the Chandelao Garh, a medieval fortified home converted by the sympathetic owner, Praduman Singh, into a lovely small hotel. On a jeep safari to surrounding villages you will see the local craftsmen at work, the potter, the blacksmith, the goldsmith and the weaver.
Day 3, Chandelao to Jodhpur
Drive to Jodhpur (1 hr). Standing at the edge of the Thar desert, Jodhpur is the second largest city in Rajasthan after Jaipur. The city is dominated by the massive Meherangarh Fort that sits atop a sheer rocky ridge right in the middle of town. Afternoon visit the fort which houses an excellent museum and affords captivating views of the blue Brahmin houses of the old city.

Day 4, Onwards from Jodhpur
Today your tour ends after breakfast. You can travel by car to Jaisalmer or to Osian, Bikaner & Mandawa. Alternatively, you could take the train to Jaipur or all the way back to Delhi.
