Ranthambore is one of the best places in India in which to see a tiger in the wild. And the Keoladeo Ghana Bird Sanctuary at Bharatpur is one of the finest bird sanctuaries in the world, attracting water birds and migratory visitors in droves.

Itinerary
Day 1, Jaipur to Sawai Madhopur
Drive to Sawai Madhopur (3 1/2 hrs), the base for visiting the beautiful Ranthambore National Park. Afternoon visit to the 10th century fort inside the park.
Stay at Ranthambore Bagh for two nights
Day 2, Sawai Madhopur
Morning and afternoon game drives in Ranthambore National Park. The landscape is much more open that in many other parks, making tiger sightings more frequent, though still a matter of chance. Other wildlife includes sambhar, nilgai, sloth bear, jackal, crocodile, much bird life, and even some rarely seen leopard.
Day 3, Sawai Madhopur to Karauli
Drive to Karauli (2 1/2 hrs), a remote ancient town, midway Ranthambore and Bharatpur, with a magnificent palace built in 1635. The old City Palace is a treasure trove of architecture, stone carvings, gorgeous jali work and classic paintings. Just outside Karauli is the Bhanwar Vilas Palace, the residence of the Maharaja, and a now a beautiful heritage hotel.

Day 4, Karauli to Bharatpur
Drive one of the finest bird sanctuaries in India at Bharatpur (3 hrs) The Keoladeo Ghana National Park is a lake system crisscrossed with cycle paths, dirt tracks and interspersed with patches of dry land. There are a great number of waterbirds such as painted storks, spoonbills, egrets, ibises and herons. Close on the heels of the nesting season come migratory birds such as duck and geese and the rare Siberian crane.

Day 5, Bharatpur to Agra
In the early morning you can explore the wonderful Bharatpur bird sanctuary again on foot or by cycle or cycle-rickshaw. After breakfast, drive to Agra (1 hr) via the deserted Mughal city of Fatehpur Sikri, a complex of forts, palaces and mosques built in sandstone. The afternoon is at leisure in Agra.

Day 6, Agra
Morning visit to the Taj Mahal and Agra Fort. The Taj Mahal is one of the most fascinating and beautiful monuments of the world. About 20,000 workers were employed in its construction, completed after some 20 years. With its perfect proportions, the Taj Mahal, is an exquisite building.
Day 7, Onwards from Agra
Today your tour ends after breakfast. From Agra you can either return to Delhi or continue with our module From Agra to the Ganges. If you have less time at your disposal, you can consider taking a night train to Varanasi.
